I devoted the majority of my thesis work to explorations of different materials and their hidden potential. I chose to work with natural materials with inherent depth to them, like ceramics and natural fibers, and through my experiments showcase their complex behaviors. By working with materials that do not conform completely to the designer’s wishes I intended to create a process that can lead to new and not fully predictable solutions.
These are just some of the experiments I conducted during my final semester at CCA.
As a result of this explorations I designed hanging planters.
As a designer I found crystals fascinating. I cannot control how the atoms will come together and what shapes they will form but I can influence their growth, suggest materials for them to grow around and create environments that would foster desired outcomes.
